Tiny lights....

You know that feelin when you lived in a tiny two bedroom apartment for nearly six years and had to squash every desire to explode with Christmas cheer year after year due to neighborly consideration?

Well, you forget all about that feeling the minute you get to string lights at YOUR VERY OWN HOUSE!
Now, we're just gettin settled over here mind you and we're still novice light stringers.
The neighbor's around here have pretty much aced it......

But that's alright cuz I love my little window.
The joy I get from these three little strands are guaranteed to soar high above that of even the most excellent domestic light show in this old town. Ironically, I encountered the homeowner of the blue one while standin in awe outside his home. He was a mean old codger and was short with me about bein too close to his lawn.
Pretty lights don't make pretty people, I suppose.....
 Get festive ya'll.
It don't hurt nothin....... ;)

  2. That's such a happy feeling to not be inhibited by space or restrictions. There is no way to be sad or bogged down in the pressence of tiny twinkling lights! I was asking mom the other day about this one year that my dad went NUTS with the lights on the exterior of our house (it was probably the only time we decorated the outside of our house) and my mom told me it was a year we didn't have a lot of money for gifts and he knew we weren't gonna be getting a lot of presents but he wanted to make it a good christmas. I guess he knew my theory that lights are therapeutic

    1. Oh wow, your dad was one of those movie dads, Kimmie. Like a really, real dad.
That dad from Wonder Years is king of those dads :)
I really love that you shared that. We have some truly lean Christmases and birthdays. I always felt the same way, if we can decorate as much as possible it'll totally make it magical.

    2. Yes. He was. clearly, kids don't notice. And frankly, they will remember those fun magical lights more than a dumb toy! (unless of course its the barbie dream house you didn't get...I still jokingly tell my mom that I still hold that against her :))

  6. At first I thought those white rocks were patches of snow! Oh, to walk around in a T-shirt in the middle of December. :) Your Christmas lights look great.

I can't believe your neighbor got after you for being too close to his lawn! I think he needs a nice cup of Christmas cheer.

I hope you guys have a Merry Christmas!

  9. I love your lights! I am so happy for ya'll. I get so much joy from reading about you all getting ready for Christmas! This is just awesome! And that last photo of you with the lights is so beautiful. If you were going to release a Christmas album, I would want that to be the cover.
