Home slice

If you aint heard from me, it might just be that I'm consumed (and lovin it) with makin my home. Here's just  a little tiny slice.
Welcome in......

Just a hodge podge of bric a brac, knick knacks and miscellaneous goodies.
Say that 3 times fast. Or even slow.

My granny found these two for me. It's a bonus in life to have someone carryin you in their hearts as they're out on the circuit. I carry a few folks, too. I know they appreciate it. It's more blessed to give than receive, that simply means it feels better givin stuff than gettin stuff ;)

I was wobblin on a chair so I couldn't get a good shot on these.
Bendy jester guy. One of my favorite little things. $2 estate sale treasure....
This Kokeshi doll in the middle has the original wood for the belly. I love that the artist left that chunk in it's natural state, never seen another one like it. See the lil baby on her hip?
I got this at a yard sale last year and always feel like I have tell people he's not smokin weed. I even had a tootsie roll wrapper there when a certain guest was comin by just so I wouldn't have to explain that elderly Phillipino men would most likely roll their own cigarettes.  One of my kids scratched it up pretty bad. That was a bum thing to do, right? I guess kids just don't know art from doodlie.
More to come later. I'm so happy here, you guys :)

First Supper

Had our first sitdown family dinner tonight. After a whole day spent workin on pullin this house together it was a good ending. Actually, it felt like a pretty good beginning to somethin....

Life's just good

Okay, I'll just be upfront with ya'll. This post is a slap-together quickie. I like to put a little more pizzazz into this stuff but while I'm waitin on that certain je ne sais quoi my life goes by undocumented. And I've grown quite fond of reducing my day down to a few snapshots and a little casual banter. I'll be sure glad I took the time to catch it while it was fresh when a few years go by.
Unless Terminator is a prophetic warning and my computer hates me and won't        let me see my blog.
Then I guess, it will all have been for naught.....
The man is tearin up the yard.
He couldn't hear me over the saw yellin "Wait!! Those are actually beautiful blooming vines that will regrow in the Spring!!!!"  ....oh well.
All jokes aside, I pulled the babies together and we prayed for Daddy's safety when I saw this ridiculousness goin on. Then I took some pictures in case it was the last time I saw him alive. It's a southern thing, we need photos to prove our memories right. Would you believe I know a lot of family that takes pictures of the deceased at funerals? I aint there yet. Don't imagine I'll ever be....
I'm reworking some wood pieces so I can get my knick knacks off the built-in and it won't look like Hoarding Central anymore. Someone encouraged me to just go on and redo that original wood piece, the integrity of the object lays in it's ability to make you happy (thanks, Rae).

These kids change ALOT. Gabe just stays nekid for the most part so I guess the laundry evens out.

And I'm startin to see age. It's welcomed. It's very welcomed.
I'm starting to feel age in my brain, too. I'm talkin about steadiness, maturity. It's a good thing.

Mailbox capable

It's for real. The Huey's are gettin mail. When we moved in our mailbox had been run over and was left grazin the ground.

Pretty sure it had everything to do with this jeep's rude and inconsiderate teen owner. If they keep parkin in front of my house I may have to exchange their pro assault rifle flag for a Don King chenille blanket. Bet I could find one on ebay.....

Dear John, thanks a million!

Livin in an old south Texas town has quite a few perks. One happens to be friendly neighbors. The kind you see in old movies like Steel Magnolias. Sure, I bet we got a Weeza on the block (dying to get to meet her) but so far only sweet, sweet old timers. When our yard was floodin and my husband came home on lunch to dig a trench in the storm, the 70 year old man next door came out and insisted on helping. All the while his wife yellin "Get outta that rain and get in the house!" My husband said  he muttered "It's worse than havin a mother-in-law sometimes". Ha! Last night they gave us a cake that they had ordered and turns out would not be needin. So we had a little party. We found a number 2 candle from someone's party that must not have  transpired (happens a lot in this family) and deemed it "Happy Birthday 2nd week House" party.

That's for number 2, guys. I don't peace out, okay. Just had to clarify that.

So, thank you John, whoever you are.
Wherever you are be blessed.

If you're just tunin in......

It's slowly coming together over here.  I wanted to paint but being a genie/psychic I foresaw a very grouchy, non-compliant husband and just nixed the idea. Didn't even mention it.
In the apartment it was easy to just tack it, nail it, slap it on up there willy nilly. I'm not havin the same carefree attitude over here, each nail gets a full trial with jury in my mind before it's hammered in. I guess just don't wanna mess up my little dream box. Gotta remind myself I can always change my mind later....
This used to hang in our bedroom.  Needs more play than a bedroom, don't you think?
Ahhhh, this one is special. Granny let me drool over it for a couple of visits and totally surprised me by tossin it in my van right before we headed home one time.  She's pleased as punch to know that it hangs in our living room, on full display :)
Hot air balloons. One of my favorites.

Okay, so unpacking I am finding some interesting stuff. I bought this back when I was pregnant with my oldest and weak for celebrity pregnancy news. Why am I keeping it all these years? I haven't got a good answer. But I do keep it hidden, wouldn't want my sisters to laugh at me for buying it (again).

I remember how sad I was when my son pulled the reel out of the Mad Max tape. I kept the box, though (Gosh, really Laura?) and then to add insult to injury he later tore the box. I still kept the torn box and put Valley Girl in it.
I found another copy while livin out at my mom's. Whew!
Does that mean I will toss the other cover?
I don't know.

Finding toys that I originally bought for my kids but in reality have not been able to let them open.
Hush! They will mess them up, guys. That would be really sad, wouldn't it?
Currently watchin my backyard flood. Keepin a sharp eye on it.....
 And hangin with Batman.
I'm a blessed gal.

In this place

This last week I took introvercy to the next level. I didn't even look in a mirror that I can remember. When I get withdrawn like this I kinda just look through myself anyhow, the mirror image is unfocused if you know what I mean. Like I don't even want to hang with me. You know. Or you don't..... But I must remember that those who don't take time to withdraw (see, how I've worded that to sound so normal?) don't get it and make the error of thinking it's personal. Mental note: call mom, call granny.....
But anyway, my "timeout" from the earth scene and it's populace just makes for more fun time with the kids.

This is what we spend our time doing. Our kids grew up with the likes of Keyboard cat, Emo Kitty, Dancing banana, German techno music Gummi bear. We are shaping some well rounded kids, lemme tell ya.
Really glad I fullfilled a childhood fantasy and married a Ghostbuster. Feelin pretty pleased about it.

Apartment dwelling families will get it when I say that having a backyard has been a transcendental experience. I think we have found what John and Yoko were searching for.
