Some recent record finds

Jerome and I have a special bond over Philo and Clyde. They look like the stupidest movies ever and you wonder why Clint would even go there. But trust me, they are sooooo funny! Just do it.

I am scared to even put the needle to this mint Puff record. But we need to hear it!

And I was so bummed to realize later that this wasn't the Dirty Dancing soundtrack but rather More Dirty Dancing, with all the instrumental background to the movie  :(
I was about to jam some Hungry Eyes, you know it ;)

  1. Totally digging the Sesame Street Monsters cover! You have some great finds! That Puff record is beautiful. I think I'd be afraid to put a needle to it too!

    1. Suzy, that record is like not even possible, right? I can't believe what people donate!
The Monsters record is definitely goin up on the wall, maybe in my son's room. I already have a few Sesame Street records on his wall. His room's full of stuff he's not allowed to touch (I'm so mean!)

    1. That's too awesome that "More" Dirty Dancing fooled you, too! LOL!
Jerks ;) Yeah, I like the wipeout song where Baby's dance practicing down that stairway/bridge thing... you know, the scene we all tried to copy when we were kids. Ahhhh, that movie has so much nostalgia....

  3. Agh! That dragon picture disk is amazing!!!! I love it. I don't know if I could play it either...but I probably would. I don't have any near that pretty. I just have colorful ones and one that is kinda tie dyed looking! That monsters one also intrigued me. Some gals have all the luck

    1. I love your use of the word "intrigue" while referencing the Monsters record.
More proof that Kimmie Jones is good people.
If I ever play it I will record it so that I never have to set a needle to it again ;)

  4. Oh my GOSH how did I miss this post before!?!?!

I love that Monster album! It has one of my very favorite Sesame Street Muppets on it! Frazzle, the scary looking red guy with the big sharp teeth (he's actually very sensitive and misunderstood due to his speech impediment and wild mood swings). He doesn't get much play these days, probably because he's a little too scary... but I love the character they built around him.

Every single one of those albums needs to be hung up in a museum.

    1. You know a heck of A LOT about your Monsters. I am not worthy of this album!! ;)
And I notice though, that Sesame Street has been fazing Monsters out, lately.... It's just not the same Street :(
I hate the 10 minute melodramas that play out a couple times throughout the show. My kids get so bored with these story lines, it's not like they have the attention span for such tedious banter.
We watch a lot of classic Sesame St. on Youtube :)

    2. YES! Thank you! I do the same thing with my boys. It's all Roosevelt Franklin and Bert and Ernie and the boogie-woogie sheep for us. HILARIOUS. Look for Frazzle videos on Youtube. The song Fuzzy and Blue just wouldn't be the same without him.

I look back at the Sesame Street of my youth and realize they were so much less "safe" back then. But not in an inappropriate way. Just in that "kids can handle more than we give them credit for and they need some excitement in their story-telling too darn it!" kind of way.

Although I do have to admit I do love that Cookie Monster song where they parody "Call Me Maybe"

    3. Definitely lookin up Fuzzy and Blue tomorrow... and the animated number sequences were so trippy and psychedelic back in the day! Like a Persian tapestry, imploding, re-exploding, spinning and melting all at once... That's what our kids need! Learning used to be fun ;)
